Apologies for the dad pun but I couldn’t help myself on this particularly bright afternoon. Even during the long grey Indiana winters, miraculous splotches of color can still be found.

The Midwest truly is a miraculous land where everything simply grows. After just one afternoon of 40-degree temperatures, I thought I spied a few tiny buds already beginning to peak into the treetops and the grass definitely seemed greener. However, even as we catch a glimpse of Spring, I still love to see the sun twinkle off the last of the Winter’s snow.

The famous Midwestern wind can always bring a dash of patriotism to a chilly winter stroll as was the case on this blessed, clear afternoon.

Even while we wait for Spring to leak color back into the world there is still beauty to be found in God’s frozen creation. Tiny miracles are always underfoot.

Amid the grey Midwestern winter, baby girl and I take every opportunity to soak up the sunshine and God’s blessings, after cozying up in our favorite handknits of course.

Even in the dead of winter, the ducks are happy to preen in the Roaring Fork River, paying no mind to their chilly feet. They politely posed for photos on this sunny and blessed afternoon.

When out for a stroll in the Colorado mountains, it’s impossible to be blue with brilliant skies and views like this. Walks like this with my parents were a welcome blessing this year.

There are many wonders to enjoy during the Christmas season in my childhood home and we were blessed to witness them this year despite an uncharacteristically dry Colorado Christmas. Even though there was no snow to augment the twinkling lights of the Hotel Colorado and the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool we made sure to stroll by both while we were in town. Glenwood lit in its’ seasonal glory was a first for my husband and baby though it certainly won’t be a last.

Although I am now an adopted Hoosier and happy to call Indiana home, I will never tire of returning to the place where I was raised and gazing up valley. This is a singular view which God continues to bless us with every time we visit.

In lieu of chocolate Advent calendars this year, my sister combined a beloved family tradition of ours with this season of preparation for the coming of Christ. Every year during Advent we break out a puzzle with the goal of completing it by Christmas. This year my sister gifted us a beautiful nativity puzzle specially designed for such a project.
