Often in life it’s easy to get caught up in the tedious day-to-day tasks and forget to praise God all together. Even when we’re surrounded by His blessings we have trouble seeing them. Sometimes all we have to do is stop and smell the flowers.

Although it’s not quite the same as a boat ride through Venice while being serenaded by the gondolier as one might see in the movies, even in Colorado one can still savor God’s blessings and a romantic afternoon on a scenic gondola ride. This particular picture comes to you from the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.

Sometimes it’s only when we’re standing on the edge of the world and looking out that we glean a bit of perspective. God in His infinite goodness, who created all this, also knew that the world needed one of you.

As the silver Midwest winter stretches on, it’s nice to recall the emerald elven kingdoms that will return in Spring. God blesses us with new miracles every single year.

Sometimes it’s easy to look in the mirror and not like the person looking back. The image is always somehow distorted and the lighting is never quite right. Sometimes it’s difficult to recognize ourselves at all but even on these days there is comfort in knowing this is exactly how God made us. Of course, we’re human, imperfect in this life. We are flawed and fallen and ever seeking eternal salvation but, so long as we know that we are also entirely His, there’s a good chance we might just look in the mirror one day and be inspired by the person we see there.

If you’ve never been snowshoeing in the mountains in the middle of a blizzard I highly recommend a new adventure, one that is sure to work up an appetite and make the hot cocoa and cookies taste all the better. Even amid stormy skies and howling winds, there is so much joy and beauty to be found in nature which, I believe, is just as God intended.

Although we’re waving goodbye to 2023 it was a year of abundant blessings. I’m thrilled to say that it was the year that my husband and I learned that we are now parents though there are still many months left before we meet our baby. We are thanking God for this beautiful life.

Although this year has been yet another Christmas spent away from my beloved mountains, this year was not without it’s blessings. The hubby and I had a chance to continue turning our little house into a home as well as share a delicious meal with family. We also began some new Christmas traditions this year which we hope to carry on to future children. Wherever you are, I pray everyone is having a very Merry Christmas!

In addition to all of the fun family traditions and the brightly wrapped packages under the tree, we should also let Christmas be a time of service to our neighbors. Perhaps that means bell ringing in front of the grocery store or volunteering for a local soup kitchen. Maybe it just means helping the elderly woman who lives next door hang her Christmas lights. Whatever it is, this is one Christmas tradition that your family will not forget.

Although we aren’t able to make it to Colorado for Christmas this year I’ll always remember fondly chilly days like these. Even if we did return to the house looking like the abominable snowman with ice sickles dripping from our hats, there’s nothing like a romp through the winter wilderness to set the world right again. I feel so blessed to have grown up in a place where hiking truly is an all seasons sport. Snow, rain or shine, with the proper footwear, there’s nothing to stop you from having a little adventure.
